It turns out that, unique to Qingdao, draft beer is sold by weight here.  One kilogram equals 2.2 pounds.  One-half kilogram is called a 'jin' (pronounced JEAN) and equals 1.1 pounds.  As Gracie showed me yesterday, all you have to do is go to the nearest keg and buy as many jin as you want.  For us, the nearest keg was at the little shop in the alley shortcut between the bus stop and the Office.  Aren't friends great!

PS. This made me think of having read about children of yore being sent with a bucket to the local bar to get beer for their fathers.
