| I think this will be the last posting based upon my recent trip to Taiwan. I would like to feature Mazu (sounds like: mod-zoo), the Chinese Goddess of the Sea. According to the internet, Mazu is the most important Taoist deity in Taiwan and arguably the most worshipped in the world with over 1500 active temples and 100 million devotees. She is the protector of all seafaring people. |

| This is the right side of the center entrance to her temple in Tainan. This center entrance is only used for processions on special occasions. We entered through one of the two side entrances flanking this entrance and then passed through the doorway you see open in the background. | ||||||||||||
