The lama temple and monastery of the Yellow Hat Sect of Lamaism (Tibetan Buddhism) is located in northeast central Beijing.  It is reputedly one of the largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the world.

Originally built in 1694, the temple is said to have been saved by Zhou Enlai during the Cultural Revolution.

Today, there are about seventy lamas living in the monastery.
