| Part of my Chinese "family" invited me over for dinner on New Year's Day and sent me home with these leftovers. Qingdao is a coastal city, and the seafood is really a treat. Maybe I'll start to take the seafood for granted after a few more months, but not yet. It was more than the usual Tower of Babel because there was a Chinese lady there who spoke Russian and German. So we had a good time in Chinese, fractured Chinese (mine), English (thanks to three high-school-age young ladies who acted as interpreters, as well as my dusted-off Russian and German. Rather amazing, actually. The beer undoubtedly helped. |

| I'm sure the crab and prawn look familiar. We use our teeth to crack the crab legs. That critter over there on the left reminds me of an itty bitty lobster and is tricky to clean without stabbing yourself on its prickly armor. I have sore fingertips today. | |||||||||||
