| I thought you'd want to know. At least I didn't have leprosy the other morning when I had the physical exam required for the Chinese equivalent of a U.S. Green Card--a Z visa. Up until now, I've been here on an F visa, which is for brief business visits. I couldn't come originally under a Z visa because my company could not employ me here until we |

| had set up a Representative Office. It has taken these past two months to get that done, but my lawyer and I are finally ready to conclude banking arrangements and make the Representative Office a done deal. I'll be making a quick visit home in mid-January to get the Z visa because I need to make the application from outside China. It's hard not to feel lonely so far away from home at Christmas, but I hosted my Chinese co-workers and their families last night to a holiday dinner at a restaurant. They have become my Chinese family, and I'm making the best of it. |
