Lucky Bird

I saw these large nests from the highway when I was on my first trip away from Qingdao in October.  They fascinated me and it didn't take me too long to track down the builder, who's larger than a blackbird and smaller than a crow.

Turns out it was the bird that the Chinese have nicknamed the lucky bird.  It's very auspicious to see it on your wedding day, for example.

I see them from my apartment window all the time.
