New Year's Eve Day (continuation)

As each dish was brought from the kitchen, it was first presented to the ancestors and then to Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy.

There's always something new to learn--today it was that fish  are served with their heads facing north. I'm not a fish lover, but the black-headed fish were outstanding.

You've seen preserved duck eggs on these pages before.  You dip them into that small white bowl of vinegar/soy sauce by the fish tail.
