| Soft Sleeper / Hard Sleeper (continuation) |

| I was actually disappointed because our soft sleeper companions were not interested in visiting, but the view out the window did not disappoint. When we arrived in Tai Yuan, the ticket office was crowded, it was late, and I decided to go to the hotel instead of stand in the long line to buy our tickets for Xi'an. The train wouldn't be leaving for some 36 hours anyway, so I thought I'd have plenty of time to buy tickets the next morning. | ||||||||||||||||

| But next morning was no less crowded and maybe even more so. If it weren't for the help from the train station employee on the right who didn't want to be photographed, we might still be standing in line. As it was, the only sleeper tickets remaining for Xi'an were of the 'hard' sleeper variety. I was just glad not to have to sit in a seat for the whole trip, so we grabbed them. | ![]() |
