Street Musicians BACK TO DATE PAGE
I've shared several pictures of street musicians with you over time, but this picture was taken in Qingdao as Karen's visit was drawing to a close.  I believe the fellow is playing an "erhu" (pronounced ARE-WHO), which literally means "two strings."  If you look closely at his lap, you will see the small, hexagonal, sound body.  The strings of this bowed instrument are touched to change their tune, but they are not pressed all the way against the neck of the instrument.
I usually stop and enjoy the music for a minute or two after having made a contribution.
