This is for our daughter Laura and her co-workers at a Walgreen's Drug Store in Ohio.  This Pharmacy Tech has drawers and drawers of goodies.  Here you see here weighing out something that looked like bark.  But more interesting than the bark was the scale.

The stick is calibrated in some way.  At one end is the pan, and a weight is slid along the stick until an equilibrium point is reached.  I've seen much cruder versions of this scale used by street vendors.
