Welcome to condo 1004 on the 10th floor facing west. There's a paper cutting at the top on both sides of the door. Credit-card type key for elevator and door.  Had the

pleasure (?) of paying one year's rent right up front--and that was at my own expense because of the special, mutually-beneficial arrangement with my employer that is making this whole China adventure possible--so I know I'll be here for the year.  In case you have a feeling for metrics, the studio apartment is a total of 52 square meters.  The kitchen and bathroom have opaque walls with sliding

doors.  And, yes, I have a Western toilet (more about toilets later). The shower is great and, if anything, the water is way too hot.  So my daily morning indulgence continues.

There's an outlet that I can use to recharge my electric shaver, and you can buy toilet paper anywhere.  I even found some Revlon Suave hair conditioner where I do most of my shopping and know that I will

be able to buy some Nivea aftershave lotion there when I need it.
